Alcoa to recruit 28 university graduates

Alcoa Chemical Engineering Graduate_Sarah Chalmers_2022Alcoa Australia is recruiting 28 ambitious university graduates wanting to kickstart their careers as part of its 2023 Graduate Program.

The bauxite, alumina and aluminium producer is seeking graduates, or those students on track to complete their studies by the end of 2022, to work in the following areas: mining, geotechnical, mechanical, electrical and chemical engineering; geology; chemistry; environmental science; health and safety; information systems; finance and procurement.

The three-week recruitment campaign closes on Monday 4 April 2022.

Those selected for the three-year development program could work at Alcoa’s bauxite mines and alumina refineries south of Perth, located near major centres including Mandurah, Bunbury or Kwinana; within 16 kilometres of Perth’s CBD at the company’s Booragoon head office; or at the company’s aluminium smelter in Portland, Victoria.

Graduates will work alongside seasoned professionals and use their degree to make a real difference as the global resources company reinvents the aluminium industry for a sustainable future. All graduate roles also transition into permanent employment as the company sees graduates as future leaders of the business.

Sarah Chalmers is a third-year Chemical Engineering Graduate and credits the company’s specialised program for providing her the foundation for a long and successful career.

“Applying for Alcoa’s Graduate Program was the best thing I have done for my career,” Ms Chalmers said.

“Over the past two years, I have been challenged on many fronts which has seen me grow both personally and professionally.

“A key aspect of the Graduate Program is you get to work in more than one role, and that’s really important because you get many experiences, and you see where your interests lie and where you might want to progress in the future.

“There are also lots of training opportunities and I love how we get to collaborate with a variety of people, including the technical, operations and maintenance teams.

“Graduates, or those graduating at the end of 2022, should not hesitate to apply for these roles, Alcoa is a great company to work for and is really supportive of your development.”

Alcoa has a proud history and commitment to training generations of skilled and educated employees, having trained and developed more than 2000 apprentices, trainees and graduates since 1963.

The company has contributed economically and socially to the fabric of Australian society for almost 60 years. It employs some 4,370 people, many of whom live regionally in the communities where it operates. Alcoa is committed to achieving greater gender balance and embraces diversity, encouraging applications from women and people of all backgrounds.

Applications for Alcoa’s 2023 Graduate Program will be received until Monday 4 April 2022. For more information or to apply visit www.alcoa.com.au/graduateopps.
