Darrin Strange

Mining Manager

Darrin Strange is a mining and manufacturing senior executive (primarily COO & large GM roles) with extensive and diverse worldwide experience spanning 4 continents over 30 years (Australia, Brazil, Africa and United Kingdom).

He joined Alcoa in January 2023 as Manager of Western Australia Mines. Before Alcoa, he was General Manager Concentrators at BHP Nickel West. Prior to that, he served as Chief Operating Officer at Anglo American Kumba Iron Ore Operations in South Africa, where he oversaw the largest open pit operation in Africa. It was a fatality free operation for over 4 years.

He also held roles managerial roles at Syrah Resources Limited, Rio Tinto Iron Ore, Adelaid Brighton and RMC UK during his career. He has extensive experience managing large capital projects and is known for overseeing operations with safety and production excellence.

Darrin has a degree in extractive metallurgy from Murdoch University in Australia
