Volunteering and Caring for Our Neighbors
Supporting area organizations in need is important to our Point Comfort staff. In November 2024, twelve Alcoans and contractors visited The Harbor Children’s Alliance and Victim Center as part of the Alcoa Foundation’s November Community Impact Campaign to prep for upcoming renovation work at the facility.

Community Investment – Building Resilience
Although our site facility is closed, we remain active members of the community as we work to return the site to its best and highest use. In 2024, we invested nearly $70,000 in programs that support our community through the Alcoa Foundation, most notably the floating classroom program conducted through the University of Houston Victoria. This program provides students with the opportunity to learn more about our valuable bay ecosystem. Students learned how to test water salinity and were able to responsibly engage with fish, crabs, and invertebrate species - as well as drag a plankton net and view the catch under microscope. In some instances, this is the first time students have had an opportunity to be on the water and interface with aquatic life. Calhoun and Industrial ISD middle and high school students, along with Edna High School students took part in the program.
